| Kids Halloween Costumes Don’t Have to Be Scary |
| Kids Halloween costumes are being sold earlier and earlier every year, it seems. But while these costumes might be a fun way to enjoy a holiday, do they really have to be as scary as some are? With all of the blood and the gore that seem to be a part of the modern television and movie experience, it seems that society has become desensitized. However, just because everyone else is accepting of the violence of the world doesn't mean you need to expose your kid to this side of the world. There are a number of kids Halloween costumes that can be humorous and enjoyable without the fake blood or the nightmares.
Dressing up as a hero is a great way for children to dress up without having to look scary. By dressing up as a police officer, a fire fighter, or a doctor, kids can focus on the positive roles in society. In fact, dressing up as a civil servant might inspire a child to look into serving others when they grow older. Military costumes, pilot outfits, and doctors are other popular kids costumes for Halloween as well. Becoming the hero, if only for a day, allows a child to feel special and to feel as though they are destined for more than just the ordinary and the everyday.
Someone from the fantasy world can also be an inspiration for kids Halloween costumes. Boys, for example, might like to dress up as an animal of sort: a bear, a tiger, or perhaps a snake. A young boy might also like to dress up as an elf or as a magical tree that can walk and talk. Girls might like to dress up as a fairy or as a good witch from a fairy tale. Young girls may also like to try being an elf as well or as a wood nymph. Some might also like to try to be a character from their favorite fairy tale stories. Princesses and queens are always popular and there are plenty of variations on that theme to try. Of course, what is a princess without a prince? Boys can try out ruling the world as a prince or a king too.
But why do toddlers and older children have to have all the fun with kids Halloween costumes? Infants can also dress up and be carried around during the Halloween night. It never hurts to start early when learning to trick or treat. No need to be a goblin when a baby can be a pumpkin or a bumblebee. In fact, there are so many adorable Halloween costumes for infants that they might just end up getting more candy than their older brothers and sisters.
To be even more creative, you can dress your child up as their favorite food. A child dressed as sushi or as a carton of orange juice is going to be a hit with other children, without the tears or the nightmares. A brother and sister could go trick or treating as salt and pepper or perhaps as milk and cookies. Just ask a child for ideas as they probably have many more ideas than any adult could ever amass on their own.
Children love to play pretend, no matter what holiday it might be. And while creepy costumes may seem to be overly important for the night of ghosts, children can still have fun without being frightened. With these child friendly costume ideas, a child can still play dress up and have a good time no matter what others might be wearing or how many people they might be scaring. |
